Nope, sorry Kat - it appears your cupboards are bare. I'll be sure to restock for you before you get home, because I know you'll need some relaxation time after your long flight! ;)
Ireland happens to be one of the places I have on my 'bucket list' of places I'd like to visit before I get old...my father-in-law and his girlfriend went over there every year for about 30 years and would usually spend a month at a time there, since his girlfriend is originally from there.
They always regaled us with stories of their trips - apparently my FIL was quite handy at finding out-of-the-way places to visit, simply by venturing off the beaten path and offering to mow the grass at various farms in exchange for a place to sleep and a good Irish meal. How fun would that be?
No, that's not a picture of one of his Ireland visits, that's in the front portion of our backyard - since he couldn't travel to Ireland any longer, he would come up every week and mow our grass just because he wanted to, and because he could. He even brought that lawnmower up in his trunk each week until we finally bought one of those self-propelled ones. The only payment requirement he had was a fresh cup of hot coffee. And yes, sometimes it would be Irish Coffee. ;)
As they got older they were unable to venture over there any more, but the memories and plethora of pictures have given them great joy in their golden years.
I was hoping that Kat would brave kissing the Blarney Stone, and apparently she did! Way to go, Kat! I sure hope she has lots of pictures, especially since that event - particularly with her - would be a momentous one! ;)
I would sure love to see this in person:
I'm looking forward to all the amazing pictures I'm sure Kat is taking while on her trip - what a great way to celebrate her wedding anniversary!!
In addition to Ireland being on my 'bucket list', I also want to tour the wine country in Italy - you know, since it's known as the 'birthplace for most wines'. I've always enjoyed a good wine, and Italy does produce some great ones. I've been making my own wine, and going 'to the source' would be a great learning experience...well, that and I can drink lots of wine! ;) And who wouldn't want to see this in person:

And drink copious amounts of this:
Of course my current wine making ventures pale in comparison to the professionals - but I can definitely understand the passion that most winemakers have and the need to learn about all sorts of different grape varieties and which grapes make a better wine. Being able to experience that in person would be a dream come true for me.How'd you like that switch from focusing on Ireland over to Italy? I figured I'd better steer clear of writing too much of Ireland, as it would be better for the other Sassy One to do when she gets back from vacation...you know, since she's actually there in person! ;)
Oh, and if you have a moment, feel free to stop by and see me in my little corner of the blogosphere - I'm Stacy from Stacy's Random Thoughts. You'll see me beeboppin' around the blogosphere with one of these two images:

Stacy.. you are a wonderful guest hostess.. are you sure that liqueur cabinet was empty when you got there???
Since you like good wine!
Dream vacation, hmmm.. right now any vacation would be a dream..but Italy would be cool!
I love the story about your father in law.
If you ever do get to Ireland, make sure they disinfect the Blarney stone right before you kiss it like they did for Kat!
I've been to every state but Hawaii and Alaska so I really would like to remedy that!
I would love to just see this country, especially the pacific northwest! I have pretty much covered the east coast!
@JAN: Shhhh!! *hic!* ;)
@blueviolet: Oh, those are two places I'd like to go, too! :)
@Otin: Seriously? The Pacific Northwest? I grew up there - you would love it for sure! :)
Very very nice post in so many ways! And Ireland is on my bucket list as well. :)
@Sheila: Awww! Thanks so much Sheila! :)
Your FIL mowed your lawn because he WANTED to? Oh, yeah, you don't live in Florida. John has a rider, and during the summer, he has to be prodded to do it, even if it only takes ten minutes.
Great post!
Hope you're enjoying your vacation, Kat! Nice place you have here!

A good place to have on a bucket list!!!
Great guest post, Stacy! Except now I SO want to go to Ireland. The photos were gorgeous!
Great post Stacy. What a wonderful guest post!
Pictures of people kissing the Blarney stone always make me DIZZY(ER).
Dream vacation? Disneyland? Seriously having lived in Orlando, and doing WDW from top to bottom, I would love to go to the place it all started! I'd like to go to The Netherlands too.
@Sprite's Keeper: LOL! Yes, he mowed it because he WANTED to...which was cool, because my hubby's like yours...he needs some prodding to do the push mowing. Of course it's because I get to have fun on the tractor, but still... ;)
@Hit 40: I couldn't agree more... ;)
@Kathy B!: Thanks, Kathy! I have a feeling when Kat gets back and posts the pictures I'm sure she's taking, it'll make us want to visit even more ;)
@Martha in PA: Thank you so much, Martha! Seeing pictures of people hanging upside down to kiss a stone made me dizzy(er), too...(grin!!) Oooh, going to the place Disneyland started would be cool! :) And of course the Netherlands... ;)
