"It was the best of times, it was the worst of times; it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness; it was the epoch of belief, it was the epoch of incredulity; it was the season of Light, it was the season of Darkness; it was the spring of hope, it was the winter of despair; we had everything before us, we had nothing before us; we were all going directly to Heaven, we were all going the other way."
Tomorrow, Hubby and I will celebrate one decade - a lifetime in today's day in age. But I am one of the lucky one's. Over twelve years ago, I was lucky enough to meet my best friend. Twelve years ago, when I wasn't looking, God put him in my life. It was not the best timing. He was not what I had envisioned my soul mate to be. He was not part of my plan. But God has a funny way of turning what you want into what he wants. He is so funny that way!
The quote above seems to summarize our past ten years perfectly. Hubby and I have been through a lot. We have conquered a lot. Would I change anything? Absolutely NOT! Life can't be all rainbows and unicorns. If it is, how do you grow? How do you learn? How do you change? Through our hardest times we have become stronger, inseparable even. You can't get that from unicorns!
Now, this is not to say that there aren't times full of puffy hearts and dreamy sighs. There are more of those then I can even keep track of! Even better then puffy hearts? Hubby cooks, makes me coffee every morning, is an amazing father to our boys, leaves his socks on the floor, thinks I am the smartest person he knows, thinks I totally lack any common sense, thinks I am the most beautiful first thing in the morning. (except when I eat garlic) That is the great thing. We love each other for the good, the bad, the ugly AND can laugh about it! For that, I will be forever grateful. |
